Jake Burton Carpenter founded Burton Snowboards out of his Vermont barn back in 1977, and has dedicated his life to snowboarding ever since. Burton served a pivotal role in growing snowboarding from a backyard hobby to a world-class sport by creating groundbreaking products, supporting the world's best riders, and pushing more resorts to allow snowboarding.
Our advanced research and development team has spent years in the lab innovating, testing and refining what materials we use – and how we use them – with one goal in mind: To make the best snowboards on the planet. We have a unique ability to develop proprietary processes, and we are the only snowboard factory in the world that has our own testing slope on-site. These factors among many others, enable us to craft snowboards that you can trust.
We are dedicated to efficiency and sustainability, and our production process is fueled by a company-wide understanding that EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE. E.I.P. is our research and development mantra. It is written on our walls. And, it is the starting point for applied technologies at CAPiTA MFG. To move beyond the status quo means facing adversity and overcoming obstacles. Only in full acceptance of this idea can progression truly take place.
The story of YES Snowboards feels a little like the intro to an 80’s sports movie, but Mighty Ducks was pretty rad so it’s probably not a bad thing. YES Snowboards was created from the ashes of the defunct Burton UNINC team/project which came to an abrupt end in 2009 and left DCP, Romain de Marchi, JP Solberg and Tadashi Fuse out in the cold after losing their sponsor.
In the ultimate middle-finger to the decision, the 4 legendary riders had a wee brainstorm and came up with the concept of YES Snowboards, a range of hardware designed specifically for the backcountry slayers amongst us.
They approached Austrian snowboard specialists GST to help them produce the snowboards and Swiss mammoth Nidecker to help them with the rest.
Since their humble beginnings they’ve released possibly the best press release of all time, released some heavy films and been the leaders of the pro start-up charge along side brands like Slash by Gigi from Gigi Rüf, Lobster from the Helgason brothers and Jones Snowboards from Jeremy Jones.
They’re also responsible for what must be one of the most iconic snowboard ranges in terms of graphics. ‘The Greats’ range from YES has included ‘The Great Beauties of History’, ‘The Great Dudes of History’ And ‘The Greats of Snowboarding’ which saw Terje Haakonsen and other greats of snowboarding plastered on the top sheets of their snowboards. They even did a range called ‘The Great Boobs of History’ which went down like a storm in a teacup…
Recent developments have also pushed boundaries in terms of snowboard shapes with the stubby 420 turning heads, and it’s twin tipped hovercraft inspired sibling the 2020 set to do the same. They’re even getting customers involved with SIY (shape it yourself) initiatives like The Clark set to let you customise your ride. (https://whitelines.com/brands/yes-snowboards#q5eo6sdtPWjjxFuy.97)

The SLASH has a natural presence in snowboarding. It is elementary to a skillful approach. It is to navigate with power and style. Here the laws of nature rule in the action of the riders.
